Bindarri Rainforest, not far from the CBD of Coffs Harbour, is a spectacular specimen of the Mid North Coast. It offers wonderful opportunities for natural, wholesome entertainment, such as 4WD routes, trails for mountain biking, walking tracks and scenic locations for picnic spots, swimming and bird-watching.
Only about 20km inland from Coffs Harbour city, Bindarri National Park is a gorgeous natural paradise on th Urumbilin River just waiting to be discovered and explored.
You can watch the delightful waters of Urumbilum River cascade gently over the Great Escarpment, carving a series of spectacular waterfalls in the rugged mountain gorge. You can drive through lovely areas of old-growth forest, lush subtropical rain forest, and marvel at super tall Eucalypt forests, all while catching glimpses of the coast in the distance! An all-in-one experience indeed.
Enjoy exploring the area in a 4×4 (by 4WD) or you can go cycling on the remote mountain bike trails, for blissful oneness with nature. Go swimming in the crystal clear waters of lovely pristine Urumbilum River, or just relax in one of the scenic picnic places. Children will love splashing about in the water, looking for frogs and spotting platypus at Bindarray picnic area.
Secluded away up in the mountains, if you’re an introvert or appreciate peaceful stillness, you’ll be in heaven. You’ll barely see another soul at Bindarri, however you’ll certainly see plenty of local wild life. Listen for lyrebirds calling through the rainforest, and look for swamp wallabies and red-necked pademelons as you wander through the forest.
