The Estate and its surroundings are teeming with wonderful wildlife. There are over 250 different native species in Australia, and the Mid North Coast is home to a good many of them, especially out here away from the city lights and noise. You can spot lots of Australian Fauna (animal) at Hermitage Estate, or pre-book a guide, giving you the opportunity to potentially sight a more elusive native animal.
There’s nothing more exciting, even to locals, to see a native animal in person. We also have many introduced species which live harmoniously in the area. Some animals you can expect to see in the area include hundreds of different species of birds, Koalas, Wallabies, Kangaroos, Bandicoots, Platypus, Possums, Kookaburras, Flying Fox, Hares, Rabbits, Ducks, Bush Turkeys and more. Several of these can be seen frequently on the Estate.
